John Carmack, known games developer legend, wrote a comment
this week on an Ars Technica article to help fellow game designers understand some of the differences and benefits of using ray tracing versus rasterization.
In his post, he touched briefly on the benefits of ray tracing accelerated hardware, such as accurate reflections and shadows, but that classic Whitted ray tracing is significantly inferior to modern rasterization engines for the vast majority of scenes that people care about.
