Double Negative rumored to lay off 200+ workers (Updated)

In an industry that never seems to be getting a break, there are rumors today on Twitter that seem to indicate the London based studio Double Negative may be laying off 200 or more workers.

Double Negative is a well known and respected visual effects studio which took part in popular projects like Harry Potter, Inception and Iron Man 2. It was set up in 1998 and employs over 1,000 people. There is no comment as of yet from the company on whether these rumors are true.

Update: FXguide got to talk to the company which denied the high layoff numbers, but confirmed some people were let go, without saying how many. They said in part: ''The decision to streamline our operation for the time being is a natural part of the cycle of our industry.''
