Sony 3D TV ends split-screen gaming

3D TVs are nothing new, and certainly for the Holidays they are being sold everywhere, both in stores and online. But Sony introduced an interesting technology that might be of interest to gamers, using 3D to provide a fairly unique feature. Calling it SimulView, the PlayStation 3D TV allows two players to see different screens from the same display. The two pairs of glasses provided can do true 3D, but if you're playing a multiplayer game, they can instead be setup to broadcast two channels, showing different views to each player.

The 24'' display is available now from Amazon and others for $500. Additional glasses will set you back $70 each. Still, it's an interesting take on 3D technology.
