Google scores most effective TV ad with Dear Sophie
According to new results from Ace Metrix, an authority in TV advertising effectiveness, the top effective website TV ad in 2011 so far was Dear Sophie by Google, promoting the Chrome browser. In fact, 5 of the top 10 ads are by Google. ''Google, who two years ago never advertised on television, has truly emerged as a major brand marketer this year, introducing high-impact spots delivered at low frequency that last longer than the average 30-second ad.'' according to Peter Daboll, CEO of the firm. In contrast, Bing had 3 ads in the top 10 most effective TV ads, while Go Daddy surprisingly aired the most ads that got poor ratings.
