Tablets becoming perfect TV companion devices

According to a study by Strategy Analytics Inc, it seems people who use a second device while watching TV are moving away from laptops and instead using tablets. Based on data gathered this summer, the firm found that the tablet is fast becoming the preferred TV companion device. Smartphones, on the other hand, are mostly used as an alert device, for SMS and voice messages, instead of a TV companion.

It's no big surprise that tablets are filling in this role nicely, since they are lighter and easier to carry than a laptop. The participants in the study, living in the US or UK and owning a tablet, indicated that this device has completely replaced their laptop while in the living room. Some of the advantages listed included comfort, ease of use and fast boot times.
