Bollywood embraces CGI effects

Reuters has an article about Bollywood, the Indian version of Hollywood, embracing technology more and more to do VFX movies, inspired by the successes of films like Transformers.

The Indian animation and VFX industry is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 19%, reaching 55.9 billion rupees by 2015, said consultancy KPMG. While the budgets of typical Indian films is much lower than in Hollywood, the cost of making those effects by VFX houses over there is also lower. The movie Robot was India's most expensive film to date, with an estimated cost of $33.3 million. It earned more than $83 million, making it one of the biggest hits ever.
